Comprehensive Eye Exams in Surrey, B.C.
When it comes to detection of diseases and conditions of the eye, and detecting them through eye exams – Abasa Optical has put in place a lot of resources through the help of advanced technology to help us get ahead in this industry. With continual improvements in technology, new glasses or contacts will give high definition vision for healthy eyes.
Eye examination plays a key role in the maintenance of optimal health for every individual. To this end, it is paramount for an adult to have their eye tested in order to keep their prescriptions current and to be able to check for early signs of eye disease.
At Abasa Optical, we go above and beyond to deliver comprehensive eye care for you and your family. It must be said that, obvious symptoms or signs of eye and vision problems are not readily noticeable, but can be easily diagnosed with the help of a licensed optometrist. If our optometrist can diagnose your eye and vision condition early enough, they will be able to provide treatment options, and as we have done in so many cases, restore vision or prevent vision loss.
Eye Exam and Consultation
A visit to our highly conducive office will give you a sneak peek of what to expect. Because we value our patient’s convenience, we allow them to book an appointment at a time that works best for them and their schedules. At the start of the consultation, your medical and family history will be considered, including your eye history and other issues. We follow this routine with a detailed pre-testing analysis, enabling us to deliver an eye exam that is comprehensive enough for your condition.
Several questions will pop up regarding symptoms or issues you’re confronted with such as your current list of medication(s), blurry vision, your overall health—and even your work environment. Additionally, previous eye condition will be discussed as the examination proceeds further.
Eye Function Test
The eye examination includes an eye functionality test. We carry out several tests with the help of our optometrist to evaluate colour vision, depth perception, eye muscle capabilities, peripheral vision, and how you respond to light. Our optometrist also conducts several other eye tests to ascertain whether your eyes are working together—focusing, moving, etc. The test will enable us diagnose any underlying issue that may be impairing your vision and help us come up with solution forthwith.
To have the clearest vision possible, regular vision testing and evaluation is a must. We provide regular vision acuity test, which is part of our comprehensive test. Our optometrist uses a wall projected eye chart and a reading card to ensure the effectiveness of your vision. The test results are interpreted as a fraction, with 20/20 as the standard or normal distance and reading vision. Corrective glasses, contacts, or eye exercise is prescribed depending on the result of your vision test.
A comprehensive eye exam not only involves determining the spectacle or contact lens prescription but also involves examining the overall ocular health to rule out various eye diseases or systemic illnesses that may affect vision. The eye is the window to your soul and it is the only place where a doctor can see part of the central nervous system – the optic nerve!
A dilated fundus exam is of utmost importance as various retinal diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal holes or detachments, ocular tumors, and congenital or hereditary retinal conditions can be diagnosed
Through slit lamp microscopic examination and tonometry, we are able to assess the overall health of your eye. Our optometrist visually inspects the health of the eyes using a high powered magnified lens and bright light. Unless otherwise contraindicated or declined by patient, we dilate the pupil in order to examine the structures of the eye.
At Hillcrest Village Optometry, we have state of the art equipment to examine the ocular health. Advanced testing methods such as retinal imaging and visual field testing further aid in evaluating various ocular conditions including Glaucoma!
